About the Initiative
What Yaar Ad is, where it stands today, and what still needs to happen.
What Yaar Ad is
Yaar Ad is a vision for a civil-ecological burial site in Israel: direct earth burial in shrouds, without concrete or a headstone, and a native tree planted above each grave. Instead of a field of stone, a Mediterranean woodland grows, with every grave precisely marked so it can always be found.
The idea answers three needs that meet: worsening scarcity of burial land, public demand for civil burial that is only partly met, and the wish of many families to say goodbye in a way that leaves something living behind rather than an ecological footprint.
Where it stands today
The initiative is at an early stage. There is no land and no license yet, stated plainly so no one concludes otherwise.

Who this initiative speaks to
At this stage the right people move this forward more than money does.
Who is behind it
The initiative began with a personal experience of loss, and is led today by Elad Sadon, a social worker. The full story is on its own page.
